From Fiancé to Wife: A Year I’ll Never Forget

2/26/2011-3/24/12

We had the best time the night we became engaged and I’m so grateful for everyone who participated in making that so magical!

Over the next year, we planned and prepared for our wedding! Our biggest concern was throwing an awesome party and making sure that everyone had a blast!

Picking out my dress was surprisingly easy, I walked away with the dress that had me, my mom and sister all in tears!! My mom referred to it as the “hippy dress” because of the way it looked on the hanger! She is the one who pulled it out and I said I would try it on but I just knew it wasn’t the one – so I thought!

When I got home I showed a picture to my dad almost immediately! He was hesitant but he agreed to look because I wanted him too!! He was so happy! I remember being in the backyard with him in this moment! So special looking back on this.

Our wedding went so smoothly and perfectly! The weather was so amazing for a south Louisiana outside wedding!! I couldn’t have asked for more! My best memory of that night is my dad! He calmed my nerves while I was walking down the isle! He cut jokes to make me laugh! I got choked up when I saw my grandpa so my dad told me to “look over here at the ugly people!” And I just began to giggle!! He was so proud of Brandon and so happy for us! My dad danced the night away and held on to my money bag so tight that night – which was cause for many jokes!

“At last!” the man exclaimed.
“This one is bone from my bone,
and flesh from my flesh!
She will be called ‘woman,’
because she was taken from ‘man.’”
This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.

(Genesis 2:22)

Me and Brandon didn’t stop dancing that night! We always have a good time together and this was the beginning of an amazing life together. I really had no idea how big the promise of “I do” was that night! I’m so blessed Brandon said those two words to me! He has been my rock through our struggles with loss in the years following and I cant imagine anyone else being as incredible to me as he has been.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up”

(Ecclesiastes 4:9)

God had really put me with the perfect man for me! I can’t imagine my life without Brandon and specifically our journey through the loss of my father and two pregnancies. God’s plan has continued to unravel for us and I can’t wait to see more!

“Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

(Mark 10:9)

I hope you have enjoyed this blog entry! Please leave feedback! And trust me when I tell you things are about to get real! I pray that I show the glory that I give to God on a daily basis for being with me through the years that I have needed Him most!
